Only since 2006 has it been possible in the Netherlands to have a personal stamp produced. As there were no possibilities for that in 1976, these special cinderellas were produced, but at the official printing house, Joh. Enschedé en Zonen in Haarlem.

The occasion was a goodbye for Dr. P.J. Platteel (1911 – 1978), burgomaster of the community of Hilversum (1968 – 1976). As they were professionally made and – from a distance – look very much alike the Dutch stamps at that time, the Dutch post office was not amused.
