The Sunday label adds a touch of colour, but it is hardly anything remarkable either. What is noteworthy, however, is that the card was posted on Saturday, 15 January 1927. The Sunday label therefore served a practical purpose.
In short, at first glance, there is absolutely nothing remarkable about it from a philatelist’s point of view.
But if we look a little more closely, we see the initials of the postcard’s writer: R.N.RH. — Richard Nikolaüs Roland Holst (1868–1938). He was a versatile artist: a painter, draughtsman, visual artist and writer, among other things.
The recipient of the postcard was Miss (Debora) Duyvis (1886–1974), an artist who, among other things, designed the Emma stamp in the 1927 Dutch Red Cross series. At the time, she was regarded as one of the finest Dutch engravers.

Despite the considerable age difference, and despite Roland Holst being married to the well-known poet and writer Henriëtte Roland Holst–van der Schalk (1869-1952), he maintained an intimate and secret relationship with Miss Duyvis. She never married and remained ‘Miss Duyvis’ until her death.
